Finally,
some yerba from the land where yerba mate was first cultivated by the
Guarani Indians -- Paraguay!This kit contains 1 kilogram (2.2
pounds) of Pajarito yerba mate. Also included is a big,
beautiful 1 piece alpaca bombilla -- over 8 inches long! The
cup in the kit is a Paraguayan style guampa – a mate cup made out of
a cow's horn. These cups last forever. I've been using mine for over
twelve years now and it is still going strong. The cup has the Pajarito
logo embossed on it. It also has a loop that you could attach a chain
to.
Note
on the yerba. The Pajarito has a strong earthy flavor with a smoky
tinge. As an added bonus I will include samples of Campesino
mint/lemon and anise flavored yerba mate. Campesino is one of
Paraguay's most popular brands. Here's a commercial advertising
the Campesino brand. (It's in Spanish).

Both
brands have small stems -- these are common in almost all yerbas,
they add flavor.

YERBA
MATE STYLE --- Drinking yerba mate here in the US grabs people's
attention. First people ask 'What are you doing?' Then they'll ask
'What is it?' Shortly thereafter they might jokingly follow up with
"Is it legal?" This traditional kit is a conversation
starter.
Drinking yerba in the traditional way
gives you a great chance to show off your palo santo guampa, talk
about the health benefits yerba mate and maybe even get some
adventurous souls to taste it. Who knows, they might start drinking
yerba mate too.
Yerba mate is consumed in South America
as a communal beverage -- one person pours, drinks, pours again, and
passes the yerba to his friend to drink. Yerba mate is about
friendship and great conversation as you share one of nature's truly
remarkable foods.
