WWII WW2 AIR FORCE COMBAT FIGHTER AIRPLANE POSTER The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a famous World War II civilian War Bond poster. An American Army Air Force ace fighter pilot, with at least six enemy aircraft kills represented by the six Japanese flags painted on the side of his airplane, is shown looking into the wild blue yonder, trying to find more enemy planes to attack. World War II required the entire U. S. population to participate in the war effort. Posters such as this spurred on the civilian effort to purchase war bonds to finance the war and feel they were a part of the fight.
CAPTION: Keep him flying! Buy War Bonds.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: All wars require money to fight them. World War II was the consummate example of how war bonds contributed to winning it. The United States of America was fighting the Great Depression and now a great war demanded men and machinery in a way that had never before been seen. To finance the war, Americans were needed to buy a Series of War Bonds, or at a lesser cost, the War Stamp. To accomplish that end an advertising campaign of unprecedented scope was developed. Everywhere Americans went they were exhorted to “Buy A Bond”. Posters, newspaper and magazine advertising, radio ads, billboards, movie trailers and every conceivable means of conveying the message were employed. Sports and movie celebrities made appearances in support of bond purchases with some starlets even selling kisses to raise money. Composer Irving Berlin made an effort by writing a little song, God Bless America, and giving the proceeds to the War Bond effort. As their contribution, dozens of artist did the artwork on posters such as this one. Great art for a great cause.
ARTIST: The artist for this poster is identified only by the last name of Schreiber.
