I cannot tell you how many times I bought something and the seller refused to send the item to a gift address...so the item was shipped to me with shipping costs attached, then I shipped it to my grandchild for additional shipping...how dumb is that?! However, as a seller, please understand that I copy shipping addresses directly from the PayPal transaction...if the address is incorrect, I simply cannot accept responsibility. Personally, I confirmed the addresses of my grandchildren, to whom I frequently ship. This is something frequent shippers might consider. I always provide delivery confirmation with shipping on all auction items EXCEPT TO CANADA. Keep in mind that delivery confirmation for USPS is typically limited to just that...delivery confirmation...they do not track the progress of the item through the system...in fact, they do not even acknowledge receipt of the item into their system even when I hand carry it to the Post Office and give it to an employee. UPS, on the other hand, does provide progress tracking. I use USPS for most items. If the item weighs over about 10 pounds, I usually use UPS because it is less expensive. If the item weighs 13 ounces or less, I usually make a first class mail shipping option available unless the total cost of shipping is within a few cents of priority mail. I also offer a Parcel Post option if there is a marked difference between Parcel Post and Priority Mail (you would be surprised to know how often there is little difference, especially if I can use Priority Mail flat rate packaging.) Because I work so hard to keep your shipping costs low, combined shipping is not always a big bargain. For example, I may have a First Class Mail option for an item, but when I combine shipping with another item, it is not uncommon for that package to go over the First Class Mail limit, at which point we are most often upgrading to Priority Mail and dealing with higher shipping prices.
