Noise: This fan is actually very loud on the highest setting but the amount of air it moves is ridiculous. If you need to circulate a room quickly, the highest setting will drown out your ears but it will also do the job very well. The lowest setting is tolerable and only makes a hum clearly audible from up to 100 ft away. The hum is equivalent to a bigger fan (20inch) on a medium setting. I don't mind the noise much and can tolerate it without complaint but I can see it getting noisy for others. For the money, this fan is absolutely amazing. Moves a lot of air and is compact.
