MYRIOPHYLLUM AQUATICUM Parrot Feather This is one of the most easily recognized aquatic plants. Very easy to grow, everyone can find a spot for parrot feather in their pond. The tiny leaves grow in a whorled fashion around the stem. It is beautiful on the edge, and it is incredible when placed alongside a waterfall. The foliage grows 6-12 inches long with a running spread. Parrot Feather is easily enhanced with heavy pruning. Each cut (on the tips) will cause it to branch. It is best planted with 1-6 inches of water over the crown, in full sun or partial shade. Propagation is easy with stem cuttings or by division. Hardy to zone 6. If Myriophyllum becomes leggy or sparse, simply trim it back (1/2 or more) and it will quickly recover. This one can be planted in  pot, which will give you a thicker plant, and better control. Or it can be placed in the pond as a free- floater.
