Ei141 Professional Mains Smoke Alarm W/ Battery Back-Up Designed for applications where the budget is a key consideration and there is no requirement for lithium power cell back-up, the 140 Series provides an alkaline battery back-up instead of rechargeable cells. Further cost savings are possible through the use of Ei’s innovative and totally unique Easi-fit technology, as there is no need to purchase additional wiring enclosures, mounting kits, leads or connectors. In a field where time is money, the fact that Easi-fit alarms are simpler and quicker to install ensures even greater savings. Main Features Responds quickly to fast flaming fires Unique and proven long life ionisation smoke chamber Alkaline battery supplied already connected to reduce installation errors (does not draw power until fitted to the mounting plate) Hush button for false alarm control Interconnects with other EI Professional mains powered smoke & heat alarms Separate mains and warning LEDs Time and money saving Easi-fit design 5 year guarantee Installation Ideally install in the centre of ceiling at least 300mm(1ft) from light fittings. Keep ionisation alarms away from kitchens to prevent nuisance alarms. Interconnect all alarms Remove unit from mounting plate by releasing catch Check battery is connected to snap. Battery will not power the unit until it is snapped on to the mounting plate Connect the house wiring to the mounting plate, noting the live, neutral, IC and earth connections Ensure house live mains is correctly connected to L terminals on all interconnected alarms – otherwise units will be damaged Do not fit actual alarm until all building work is completed to avoid contamination. After checking operation, cover smoke alarm with dust cover until required for use Don’t megger the alarm. Disconnect the alarm before applying high voltage to house wiring Trouble Shooting Frequent nuisance Alarms occur: Close kitchen/bathroom door when in use Ensure that the alarm is sited at least 6m away from sources of fumes Contamination from insects, paint or paint fumes may have occured. Clean the alarm If the problem persists, resiting of the unit should be considered. Alternatively, replace the unit with an Optical unit(EI145/146/166), assuming that the problem is with an Ionisation type alarm(EI140/141/161). Alarm sounds for no apparent reason: Identify the alarm source. On interconnected units, the red light on the cover will flash rapidly only on the unit which is the source of the alarm Check for fumes, steam etc. from the kitchen or bathroom. Paint and other fumes can cause nuisance alarms Press the test/hush button to silence the Smoke/Heat Alarm for 10 minutes If the alarm does not stop, switch off mains and remove unit.(only remove alarm with red light flashing, the others are probably satisfactory) Low battery & other beeps: (On EI141/144/146 only) If the battery is correctly connected and the unit has beeped for over 20 minutes the battery is probably depleted. Obtain a new battery, disconnect the mains, then remove the alarm and replace the depleted battery (On EI161/164/166 only) Check the green mains power light is on. If not, check fuse, circuit breakers and wiring connections. If the green light is off,the lithium cells will deplete after some months without mains and will need to be recharged. If the above fails to turn on the green light, a fault may exist. Switch off mains and remove the unit (All Alarms) If the green mains light is on and replacing battery, recharging the lithium cells or cleaning has not stopped beeps, a fault may exist. Disconnect the mains first and replace the unit The Ionisation units(EI141/140/161) give two beeps 10 minutes after the test/hush button is pressed If the Optical units (EI146/145/166) beeps without the red light flashing at the same time, the chamber is defective. Clean the chamber Interconnected Alarms do not all sound: Hold test button for 10 seconds after first alarm has sounded to ensure signal is transmitted to all units Switch off mains and check that live, neutral and interconnect cables have been correctly connected and that the connections are tight Envirolite's Services Any Questions Please Email Me: Envirolite@tiscali.co.uk This is a Stock Item so you can Order as many as you wish!
