I have for sale Jagerbitter Schnapps Essence, you can guess from the name what this stuff is designed to simulate :) I just tried it myself last weekend, mixed into some cheap vodka, and I'll be honest: it is TASTY! I am done paying $23 for a fifth of Jager because I can buy a $8 bottle of this stuff, mix it into $5 worth of cheap vodka and have a great drink for half the price! You are actually going to end up with 29 ounces of liqueur once you add the sugar to it so you have close to a liter of Jager for $13. I've been serving this up to friends at parties and I had them ALL fooled, thinking they were drinking real Jager until I told them otherwise. I did a few side-by-side taste tests and only one person thought it tasted different than the real deal, but actually preferred the Jagerbitter! It blew him away when he realized he actually preferred the Jagerbitter over his beloved Jager. The Jagerbitter liqueur does come out a little on the pale side.  You can tell it's not real Jager once you pour it into a shot glass or a drink because it's more of a light caramel color than the near-black you expect from Jager. I find this coloration is actually superior in mixed drinks, however, as it lends for more interesting presentation in a drink that would other wise just be black with regular Jager.  The fact that I am paying half the amount of cash for a drink that is just as delicious is totally worth it! Makes an excellent Jager Bomb! Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Does the final product really taste like Jager? A: I can't tell the difference, and neither can any of my friends! The only visible difference is that it isn't quite as dark as Jager. Q: I only drink top shelf vodka, I just can't bring myself to buy the cheap stuff. Are you sure I can get by with using cheap vodka to make the Jager with? A: Absolutely! I mix mine with cheapest of the CHEAP vodka and it tastes great! I'm talking $12 for 1.75L vodka, you're flavoring it anyway so it's not like your going to taste the smoothness of top shelf vodka. Q: Why do the instructions tell me to mix this up in a 1L bottle if I only use 750mL of alcohol in it? Just a tad confused... A: You will actually end up with 820mL of liqueur once you have the sugar mixed into it. You can use a 750mL bottle if that's what you have (use less vodka and a little less sugar in the bottle), it will just taste a little more intense. What I did was buy a 1L bottle of Jager and once that was gone (doesn't take long, does it?) I use that to mix up my own Jager with the flavoring essence and vodka that I buy in a 1.75L bottle. Instructions: Pour the contents of this bottle and 1/2 cup (115 g) of granulated sugar into a 35 fl. oz. (1 L) bottle. Fill with 26.5 fl. oz. (750m L) of 35-40% ABV neutral grain alcohol or vodka (in other words, nothing flavored). Shake until the sugar has completely dissolved. If desired, thicken with 1 fl. oz. (29 ml) of glycerine.
