The green house pictured above is an original design by Jamaica Cottage Shop. A hand made front door with heavy black hinges and four 2x3 barn sash windows. They are all hinged to open out it makes this design comfortable and easy to use. One additional 2x4 hinged window in the gable end allow extra light and enhance the charm of this little cottage. The roofing material is corrugated translucent fiberglass allowing the light to further penetrate, but not to overheat the building with direct sun light. There is no floor to worry about rotting away. We suggest it sit on a layer of brick or stone, gravel or directly on the ground. The cottage sits on a layer of treated lumber. A complete wrap around workbench makes this a quaint comfortable work space. The overall height is 8' 6”. Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc. engineered the plans for our designs to be geared towards a back yard do it yourself homeowner who understands the basics of framing a building. The plans are not blue print in style. The trigonometry of the roof triangles has all been simplified with tracing the cut out roof templates. The plans are set up so a professional contractor or a homeowner can follow in an easy to understand format. The proper wall heights and roof pitches that keep the structure proportionate and aesthetically pleasing are separated so a professional can pass by the explanations. The plans provide a beginner carpenter with the knowledge of how to build and they provide a clear path in a step-by-step fashion. The plans are set up for true dimensional lumber.
