 RARE MODERN OKINAWA JAPANESE VESSEL  HAND BLOWN LIGHT SMOKE GRAY VASE  JAPANESE NEW OLD STOCK INCREDIBLY LOVELY FASCINATING HISTORY: After World War II, glass studios developed during the restoration of Okinawa, in Japan.  Glass manufacturers of Okinawa, with scarce resources because of the war, began using bottles from American soldiers, recycling them.  Originally used for the necessities of life, this recycled glass soon inspired artists and craftsmen to create more and more wonderful decorative items.  This vase was created from old American GI glass bottles from World War II. This item is New Old Stock - it was in storage for many decades - recently discovered - never used - rare and unique Have you heard the term "New Old Stock (NOS)?"  It refers to Old Stock of any item that was never sold or used.  For example, if you were lucky enough to come across a collection of baseball cards (hopefully still in the old wrappers and un-opened), that could be NOS.  Similarly, if a business, shop or warehouse had items purchased years ago but had not sold all of the stock, that would be NOS.  Other New Old stock items are art objects, pottery, pens, watches, toys, or other things - you may have received as a child - but never used or opened.  The real trick is to be lucky enough to find New Old Stock.  In the marketplace, NOS is like the "holy grail" of anything collectible, and is so highly prized that it often commands high prices.
