It's 5.5" wide for extra stepping area, but yet has a nice low profile. It has a very smooth satin finish with blow molded end caps that are accented in chrome that will go excellent with wheels, bumpers and grilles. Each end cap is bolted into place with 3, not 1, bolts to insure long lasting placement as well as rust prevention. It comes with a superior 4" wide rubber slip resistant step area that is actually locked into the boards aluminum extrusion channels so there is no tape holding the rubber step area in place preventing any chance of peeling off. All Gladiator Running Boards come with custom mounting brackets and installation instructions, but the phone tech support is very helpful if you need some help.  Let me first start with the heavy duty packaging.  The carton looked to be very durable and could possibly take a good beating while being shipped. The running boards were packed very well so as to prevent damage while in transit.  Everything was in the box as described (always a plus). They must weigh around 30 to 40lbs a set and they are extremely sturdy.  The boards themselves are every bit as sturdy and strong as a stainless steel tube nerf bar.  The chrome plated end caps add just the right touch. The step area is first class, allowing plenty of room for boots or snow shoes. Love the real rubber tread area. Plenty of grip. The molded end caps have a nice shape that offers some protection against mud and debris coming from the front tire.  With this kind of price along with this kind of quality, how could you go wrong?
