Why settle for a tiny "starter" plant?? Sambucus BLACK LACE™ PPAF Bold, Beautiful, Flowering Shrub BLACK LACE™ is a stunning development in Elderberry breeding. Intense purple black foliage is finely cut, giving it an effect similar to that of Japanese maple. Indeed, some designers are using it in place of the more sensitive acer varieties since BLACK LACE™ is extremely durable and adaptable. Creamy pink flowers in spring contrast nicely with the dark leaves. They are followed by blackish red fall berries which can be harvested for making elderberry wine and jam, or left on the plant to attract birds and other wildlife. BLACK LACE™ is very cold hardy and easy to grow, and adaptable to most sites. Full sun is needed for the best color. It can be used as a dramatic accent plant, planted en masse for a trouble free high hedge, or incorporated into the mixed or perennial border. Left alone it will reach up to 8 feet in height, but BLACK LACE™ can also be pruned back each year to fit into more formal settings.   Excellent for use as a specimen, screen or informal hedge.    Zones 4-8  Height:  8 feet  Spread:  8 feet.  May be kept smaller with pruning. For example, if you live in zone 9 and purchase a lilac, the warranty is void as they do not survive in zones above USDA zone 8. Please keep in mind that both late in the year and in early spring, the plant will most likely be dormant. This does not mean it is dead!  Plants in dormancy is the norm during late fall through early spring.  We are in USDA Zone 5 and have a real winter here.  Please follow care instructions and culture. Some types of plants shipped in the summer may wilt or drop their leaves.  This is normal and will grow back.  All seeds, plants, and plant materials are sold without any other warranty, express or implied, of any kind and in no case shall Moonshine Designs be liable for more than the original purchase price of any plant item or seeds.  Since we cannot control climate and planting conditions, no other warranty is expressed or implied.  If, for some reason, your plants should arrive dead, we will replace the plant or refund the amount of the auction win at our option. Proof may be required.  We do not refund shipping costs. RETURNS:  Returns will NOT be accepted without prior approval and an RMA number.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
