Frame Description:  This frame is a new plein air picture frame hand gilded with gold metal leaf, and hand burnished.  A very light white/gray wash yields a pale gold finish which is both soft and lusterous with a hint of the red base showing through.  This frame has a classic profile which scoops downward from the outer edge to the opening and lends depth to the artwork.  We refer to this frame as a plein air frame because it is a seamless corner wide gold frame well suited for American impressionist paintings which are often referred to as plein air paintings; however, it is equally approptiate for other artwork, a portrait or even a mirror.  This frame is made to accommodate artwork which is 24" x 36".  (Please note:  the full frame picture is a photograph of an identical 24" x 30" exemplar.)  The interior dimension of the opening measured from the back where the artwork is placed is exactly 24 1/8" x 36 1/8".  The additional 1/8" is called "standard allowance" and is added so the artwork fits easily into the frame.  The sight dimension of the opening measured from the front is 23 3/8" x 35 3/8".  This frame is approximately 3 1/4" wide on its face and 1 1/2" thick along the back edge.  As with the majority of our photographs of wide gold frames, the photographs of this frame were taken in natural light in an effort to accurately represent the color value of the gold.
